The Design Process and Fees

When you contact us we will book an appointment and thereafter visit the site to familiarise ourselves with its conditions and discuss your requirements.  We are happy to work directly with you or with your architect for a seamless integration of house and garden.  From this initial visit we will prepare cost estimates for design work, which will be sent to you for approval.  There is a fee of R150,00 for this initial visit. Upon your acceptance of the design fees we will proceed with the following:

1. Measurement of site

Construction of new pebble pathway

2. Site analysis and photographs

3. Drawing of plan to scale

4. Research and rough sketching

5. Final drawing

6. Detailing and quantifying of hard landscaping

7. Detailing and quantifying of plant material

8. Preparation of quotation for implementation of landscaping

9. Photocopying of plan

10. Presentation of plan to client

The cost for a design commission will vary depending on the complexity of the design, location and garden size. 

Design fees do not include the actual hard or soft landscaping. When considering how much to spend, clients should treat the garden as a financial investment and budget between 4 – 10% of the property value as a realistic investment figure.
